Olli Mustonen has established himself as one of the most exciting pianists of his time. His brilliant technique and startling interpretations have challenged and fascinated audiences. The Finnish pianist has worked with many of the world's leading orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, London Philharmonic and Royal Concertgebouw Orkest and with conductors including Ashkenazy, Barenboim, Boulez, Harding, Harnoncourt, Salonen and Saraste. In recital he frequently plays in the world's music capitals such as London, Paris, Tokyo and Berlin. Olli Mustonen's recording catalogue is broad based and exceptionally distinguished. His recordings were awarded prizes such as the Edison Award and the Gramophone Award. Olli Mustonen studied piano with Ralf Gothoni and Eero Heinonen and composition with Einojuhani Rautavaara. He is the founder of the Helsinki Festival Orchestra and chief conductor of the Tapiola Sinfonietta.
